So you did it, you thought by not marketing your company on the web or with traditional marketing collateral that you'd save huge bucks. You probably did. How much did you lose though because your name wasn't out there or you didn't polish your current marketing pieces up taking advantage of the economic situation? In most cases you'll have to work harder to get that same sale that was approved last year in a third of the time, fine.

Hitting the pavement to drum up business requires more than a great smile and pressed dress pants, you need the marketing material or online presence to back up your messaging, pitch or product. If you only look half put together in person or online people will think twice about how you think about your company which will drive their decision to work with you ultimately.

It's all about perception.

If you look dollar store, you'll attract that type of client. One of our latest client's motto is Believe it. Be it.™. That sums up exactly how you should treat your marketing efforts. You won't attract those huge accounts on a shoestring marketing budget. That also doesn't mean you have to take a second mortgage out to look like a million bucks. It does take a budget though, a budget you may or may need to be creative to obtain. Don't think for a second that your in-house Microsoft Publisher & Word works-of-art will impress the right people, it will most likely hinder your business' success.

The slow business cycle is here, everyone is feeling it whether they admit it or not. Don't stay on the sidelines waiting for it to get better, get proactive and take advantage now. Chances are you may find some great deals out there to help rebrand or help your current design situation to help get those long overdue sales up.

Remember good design isn't cheap and cheap design isn't good.
